The current issue of ifo Schnelldienst (03/2025), published by the ifo Institute, addresses the electricity market and discussses the balance between competitiveness, sustainability and affordability. BayBatt member Prof. Dr. Marie-Louise Arlt (Assistant Professor for Information Systems Research, in particular on Connected Energy Storage) comments on the current electricity prices, their determinants, and what we can expect for the future. While future electricity prices of decarbonized systems may remain on a high level, there is significant leverage to reduce grid tariffs and taxes.
