5th annual meeting of the BayBatt Advisory Board
14.10.2024
The 5th meeting of the BayBatt Advisory Board took place on October 8 and 9.
In addition to a general overview of developments at BayBatt over the past year, three new BayBatt members introduced themselves and their research work to the Advisory Board. A main topic of discussion was the political framework and funding for battery research in Germany.
We are particularly pleased to welcome two new members to the Advisory Board: Prof. Dr. Philipp Adelhelm from the Humboldt University of Berlin and Dr. Andreas Fischer from BASF. Prof. Adelhelm and his research group are working on alternative battery systems and are particularly interested in the development and investigation of electrode materials. He presented his work in more detail in a keynote speech at the advisory board meeting.
Dr. Fischer has been working in the field of electrochemical energy storage and conversion for over 30 years. For more than 15 years, he has focused on materials for lithium-ion batteries and related systems. In 2012, he was appointed Vice President of BASF as Executive Expert “Batteries and Electrochemistry”.
Furthermore, Dr. Nicolas Bucher was elected as the new Chair of the Advisory Board. As Head of Funded Projects, Dr. Nicolas Bucher has been responsible for national and international collaborative projects at VARTA AG since April 2021. We are delighted that he will now chair the Advisory Board alongside Dr. Martin Krebs for the next three years.
