06.09.2024

BayBatt member Prof. Seema Agarwal and Prof. Andreas Greiner from UBT (both Chair of Macromolecular Chemistry II) have been awarded International Expert Status at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, India, under the Scheme for Promotion of Academic and Research Collaboration (SPARC). This recognition is part of an initiative by the Ministry of Education, Government of India.

The SPARC scheme facilitates bilateral academic and research collaborations between Indian Principal Investigators (PIs) and international partners from top Overseas Higher Education Institutions through joint research projects involving the mobility of students and faculty, as well as joint courses, and workshops.

Professors Agarwal and Greiner will closely collaborate with their Indian counterparts, Professors Susanta Banerjee and Subhasish Basu Majumder of IIT Kharagpur, focusing on the topic of Solid Polymer Membranes for applications in fuel cells, batteries, and water purification technologies. The collaboration is supported by a financial grant of approximately 60,000 Euros, provided by the Ministry of Education, India, through the SPARC scheme.

This joint venture is expected to drive significant advancements in these critical areas, contributing to sustainable technology solutions and knowledge exchange. It will also provide valuable opportunities for early career researchers to gain international experience and exposure to cutting-edge research.

The collaboration under the SPARC scheme marks a significant milestone for University of Bayreuth, enhancing its internationalization efforts and establishing stronger academic ties with leading institutions in India.
