Prof. Bianchini at ECS conference

BayBatt member Prof. Matteo Bianchini, Chair of Inorganic Active Materials for Electrochemical Energy Storage, visited the 245th ECS - The Electrochemical Society conference in San Fransico from May 26-30. He gave a presentation on Ni-based cathodes and rock salt cathode materials.

Around the same time, Agnese Reitano et. al published a new paper on "Phase stability and charge compensation in disordered rock salt compounds based on nickel an titanium". This is the first paper published by a PhD student as first author in Prof. Bianchini's new group at BayBatt. In it, Reitano et al. investigate the phase stability and the electrochemical behaviour of a class of disordered rock salt compounds (DRX) based on Ni and Ti as cathode materials for Li-ion batteries. The materials were analysed using different methods including DFT calculations, x-rays and neutrons diffraction, in situ and operando techniques.

The paper is part of the themed collection Journal of Materials Chemistry A Emerging Investigators 2024 and can be accessed in full here.
