KinderUni - Prof. Dr. André Gröschel - Batteries: the small power storage devices
17 July 2024 5.15 p.m.
Audimax
Have you ever wondered what's in a battery? Where and how exactly is the electricity stored in these small packages and later retrieved and used. How do the batteries in your cell phones, laptops, or electric cars actually work and why can't you just throw empty batteries in the trash? And what if there were no more batteries? We answer questions about the structure, function and recycling of batteries in the Children's University lecture. And we'll show you how you can build a battery yourself. Made from potatoes!
The KinderUni takes plase in the Audimax on the University of Bayreuth campus. Admission is free, registration is not required. The lecture will be given in German.
The KinderUni is aimed at pupils in grades 2 to 6 from all types of schools. It aims to capture children's curiosity and impart knowledge at a high level in a fun way, to awaken children's enthusiasm for scientific issues, to open up a new educational venue for children in the region and to give all children access to extracurricular education. Travel to the KinderUni on the city bus is free of charge. The KinderUni program booklet is valid as a ticket. There is an exciting accompanying program for parents during the KinderUni: a lecture (Building NW I, H 13) or a guided tour.
